A Lament to Pip In the depths of my heart, a sorrow resides, A lament for a companion, whose presence subsides. Pip, a faithful friend, with eyes so bright, Whose light was extinguished on that fateful night. Cream and tan, your colors did blend, A gentle soul, on whom I could depend. Oh, how clever you were, my canine star, With a mind so sharp, you surpassed the bar. Tomatoes you adored, a quirky delight, Juicy and red, bringing you pure delight. Tug of war, your favorite game to play, With boundless energy, you'd seize the day. But destiny dealt a cruel hand, my dear, Taking you from me, leaving me in tears. Oh, Pip, my soul mate, my constant guide, On this day, you would have turned four beside. Your wagging tail, a symphony of joy, Bringing laughter and solace, my dear boy. Through walks in the park, and trails we would roam, You made every moment feel like home. The scent of your fur, a familiar embrace, A comforting reminder of your grace. The way you'd nuzzle, with love in your eyes, I felt your presence, beyond the earthly skies. Though the pain remains, and tears may flow, I'll honor your spirit, wherever I go. For you were more than just a dog by my side, You were my confidant, my joy, my pride. So, on this day, your would-be birthday, I celebrate your life in my own special way. With a heavy heart, yet filled with love, I send you blessings, to the heavens above. Rest in peace, my precious Pip, forever missed, In my heart, your memory will persist. Until we meet again, across the great divide, Know that our love will forever abide.
